House Speaker Boehner Is Not Very Agreeable to Compromise

The only thing Boehner says about taxes, is to get rid of some tax deductions to the rich, rather than raise taxes significantly.  We shall see how Obama fares in seeking bi-partisanship agreement on budget, taxes and deficit issues before the end of this Congressional session.

Gridlock will cause many automatic cuts to those who can least afford them, e.g. the poor, educators and those in need of Medicaid.

Is Increased Unionization Of All Large Corps The Only Way To Help People Out Of Poverty?

Why pay entitlements to millions of full time workers rather than a fair wage?  I am 69 and don't expect a decent Congress approved wage increase in my lifetime unfortunately.

Do Necessary, Hard Working Employees And Families Deserve 70 Years Of Poverty?

Thirty years ago, I worked at an unskilled job for a warehousing company, at $10 per hour.  Today, the same company pays $11 per hour for the same job because people are desperate for jobs, even though the workplace is totally unfair.

Wages

In 1960, the federal minimum wage was $1.25 per hour, which was not acceptable at the time and now, it is $7.25 per hour, meaning that millions work full time, and qualify for entitlement programs such as HUD or Medicaid or food stamps.  As we look ahead and blame people for not saving enough money, when will people force Congress to raise the federal minimum wage to an income that doesn't leave families in povety their whole life?

Suppose The Federal Government Enacts A Rental Security Adiministration

The RSA would be tailored after the Social Security program.  With 50 million poor and millions paying more than 50% of income on rent (thereby qualifying for foodstamps in many cases), inculding millions of elderly with an average SS benefit of $1000 per month, It is high time to aupport renters after they have paid rent for approximatedly 40 years in an era where more and more people live to be in their nineties, with miniscule cost of living adjustments.  By paying into this program, poor, elderly people would be in a much more stable economic situation. While we say that people should not expect SS to be their sole source of retirement income, wages are very low and millions do not have enough retirement income to have pleasure in the last twenty to thirty years of their life.
